Mission and Research Projects
The mission of IRIDeS aims at the construction of disaster resilient society through the scientific analyses of the fact and lessons from Great East Japan Earthquake. Disaster management should work at each time point of prompt assistance to victims, to achieve rapid and effective recovery, and to build disaster-resilient and sustainable societies, by five stages of the disaster management cycle; Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Reconstruction.Tohoku University built IRIDeS as a part of Institutes for Disaster Reconstruction and Regeneration Research (http://www.tohoku.ac.jp/english/profile/about/08/about0808/), that contains Division of Disaster Medicine. Division of International Cooperation for Disaster Medicine aims at the construction of disaster resilient network of medical, public health and welfare providers. We are conducting research projects listed below.
